What weight differential oil

The differential is a component in all cars and is designed to compensate for the difference in distance the inner wheels and outer wheels travel as the car goes around a corner. In a

Gear Oil Selection Criteria. In order to choose the best lubricant for a gear set, the following criteria must be addressed: Viscosity – Often referred to as the most  3 Crucial Points to Consider When Choosing Differential Fluid. It is necessary to know what differential oil types exist to select the best gear oil for differential. Address the following criteria to choose the best lubricant for a gear set: Viscosity is one of the most essential differential gear oil properties. Usually, it’s mentioned in a component’s maintenance manual. In case if there is no manual or a machine works somewhat differently, there are special methods for viscosity I've used AmsOil 75W-90 severe service gear oil since around 4K miles in my '12 R/T w/M6 trans, along with a tube of friction modifier each oil change. I change my differential oil each oil change(@ 8K miles)as it is easy to access to drain and refill, and the cavity holds around a quart and 1/2 of oil anyway. Cheap insurance, absolutely no The SAE grading system indicates oil viscosity in simple numbers ranging from the thin oil (10) to the very thick oil (140 or above). Heavier weight, or higher grade oil is more viscous and therefore thicker as it flows between the gears. Light grade oil is ideal for small, fast, polished gears under a light load. Heavy grade oil is suited for large, slow, rough gears under a heavy load. Check your manufacture's specifications for the gear grade needed in your equipment.

i just fixed a fuel leak earlier this morning and was checkin all the lines when i found a pin hole in the diff cover so for now it's just the rear but i'll take care of the front diff before this winter. any other comments on brand of oil? just to get a feel for what other guys are runnin.

I have some Mobil 1 75-90 and some Mobil 1 75-140. Can I mix them half and half? I would think so since they are both Mobil 1 products but wanted others thoughts. Would it be like a 75-115 in weight? Thanks

The 75W140 weight is strange to us but it's the only gear oil listed in BMW's official fluid guide for these differentials. We have used Red Line 75W90 in just about  Save on Gear Oil with great deals at Advance Auto Parts. Buy online, pick up in- store in 30 minutes.

Differential fluid, also referred to as differential oil or gear oil, provides the lubrication necessary to keep your differential functioning as it should. This special type of oil with a high viscosity is designed to cope with extreme pressure and high temperatures and is thicker than engine oil.

I use 75W90 synthetic hypoid gear oil (actually quite unlikely you would find an 80W90 or 75W90 that is not a hypoid oil, if it is for the rear axle of any pickup truck, it is a hypoid oil). You may also find after changing your front axle gear oil that you have a creaking noise when you take corners if you have the Honda limted slip front axle Shock oil, this one is difficult because everyone has a different opinion. The E-Revos come with 35wt oil stock, you can use that as a reference to start. I'll share what I've done with my 1.0, my 2.0 I run stock suspension setups. So my O. G. ERBE has the long travel springs (blue and silver) with 45wt shock oil with Traxxas variable damping SAE 80 API GL-4 Hypoid gear oil you should be able to use any GL-4 gear oil from the parts store as long as the weight is close. Heavy oil differential refers to the difference in weight, or gravity, of oil, and secondly to the resulting price differentials. The heavy oil differential affects oil producers because it determines the market price they can obtain for the oil they produce.
